Everton are in very advanced talks to sign AS Monaco striker Folarin Balogun, 25, in a deal worth more than €40m, according to Foot Mercato.

Monaco have set an asking price of £40m, BBC Sport reports.

Balogun lit up Ligue 1 last season but has yet to feature this term as he continues his recovery from a minor injury.

He watched from the stands at Stade Louis II on Sunday as Monaco beat Olympique de Marseille 2-0, with Paris Brunner scoring both goals.

Monaco have been open to selling Balogun this season and the player is keen to leave. With Matthis Abline and Brunner in place, the Principality club believe their succession plan is complete and are ready to turn the page.
