Everton snatch late draw as Tarkowski rescues point at Bournemouth | OneFootball

Everton left it late to rescue a point at Bournemouth as captain James Tarkowski struck in stoppage time to earn a 1-1 draw.

The visitors created the better chances during an entertaining first half, with Thierno Barry twice coming close. The striker was denied by Djordje Petrovic after the goalkeeper had initially spilled a shot, while Jarrad Branthwaite also tested the Bournemouth defence.

However, it was the hosts who broke the deadlock four minutes before half-time. Evanilson did brilliantly to chase down a long ball, beat Tarkowski and pick out Alex Scott, who took a touch before firing a low effort into the bottom corner.

Everton continued to threaten after the interval, but Barry was unable to find the finish his lively performance deserved. Petrovic produced another important save to deny the forward from close range.

David Moyes’ side pushed for an equaliser and had penalty appeals waved away, but Bournemouth looked set to hold on for all three points.

The Cherries were eventually undone by a corner in the 91st minute. Marcus Tavernier and Ryan Christie failed to clear Hayden Hackney’s delivery, allowing Tarkowski to turn and drill a superb low finish into the far corner.

The result leaves Marco Rose still waiting for his first victory as Bournemouth boss.
