Florian Wirtz has said the movement around him helped him shine after starring in Germany's 2-0 win over Serbia.

Wirtz was on target as Germany secured their first win under new head coach Jurgen Klopp, scoring a brilliant second-half goal in Munich.

The 23-year-old has struggled for form atLiverpool this season, failing to score in the Premier League so far. However, he showed his class on an important night for the national team. Wirtz led the game for chances created (6) and touches in the opposition box (8), alongside scoring his 12th international goal.

Reflecting on the win and his performance, Wirtz praised the movement of his teammates to enable him to find space.

"The players around me made things much easier for me tonight," he said.

"There was so much activity around me, and when I get that, it is easier for me to shine again."

Klopp used Wirtz as part of a two-man forward line alongside Nick Woltemade against Serbia. The ex-Liverpool manager said his former team will have been pleased to see the midfielder shine on international duty.

“The way we want to play suits Florian Wirtz,"Klopp said.

"I think everyone at Liverpool is very happy today. He is full of love for the game, and he has given everything he has.”
