I don’t think that I will be hailed as a genius for pointing out that at Newcastle United, not everything has gone as planned since the end of last season.

Albeit, the final key signings we had been waiting for, finally arrived in the very final stages of the transfer window.

The major problem for the late arrivals, is that Eddie Howe could not integrate them over a period of time into the squad, as he has done previously.

Something he has achieved with spectacular success in the past, new signings ever improving thanks to his guidance.

Unfortunately, injuries have yet again added to our problems, losing Yoane Wissa after an injury picked up on international duty.

This forcing a far bigger load at this early point of leading our attack, on a young relatively inexperienced striker who clearly will need time to get fully used to the Premier League. Under Eddie Howe’s guidance, he will only get better over time.

Remember, Alexander Isak was not always an automatic choice when he arrived. In his first season at Newcastle United, in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup run that ended with defeat at Wembley, Isak started 17 games and came off the bench in another nine.

We are now hearing people, journalists and some fans, claiming selection mistakes by Eddie Howe have cost us dearly?

A few points to highlight on this:

The people claiming that errors have been made in Newcastle United team selections so far this season, are people who are outside of the club and training ground, therefore not fully aware of all of the issues such as fitness and injuries which are not public knowledge.

This supposedly ‘disastrous’ start to the season has consisted of a win, two away draws and a late late goal defeat with ten men to the Premier League champions, plus a single goal defeat to one of the best teams in Europe and current reigning La Liga champions.

The late arrivals have missed the opportunity to get up to speed with the training methods and becoming fully settled in both the club and the area.

I think that this is certainly a time to hold our nerve and support the manager and players .

Remember where we were when Eddie Howe and his coaching team arrived (I think most of us would have been over the moon to be beaten 2-1 at home by Barcelona then).
