Ex-Barcelona star Gündoğan sends personal message to Ferran Torres | OneFootball

Former Barcelona star İlkay Gündoğan has sent a public message of congratulations the way of friend and ex-teammate Ferran Torres.

This of course comes in the aftermath of the latter’s heroics on the international stage on Sunday.

Ferran was for his part introduced off the bench yesterday evening, as Spain locked horns with Argentina in the finale of the 2026 World Cup.

And en route to an extra-time triumph for La Roja, the 26-year-old proved himself the decisive figure.

Laid on by Nico Williams with 106 minutes on the clock, Ferran made no mistake in directing a superb left-footed finish into the roof of the Argentine net.

Messages of support and congratulations, in turn, have since come pouring in for the former Manchester City man from across the world of football.

And as alluded to above, quick to add his name to this list was a one-time teammate of Ferran’s in Barcelona.

In a post on his official ‘X’ account, İlkay Gündoğan wrote:

‘So happy for my former teammate Ferran Torres. What a crucial winning goal for the history books!’
