Former Inter midfielder Matias Vecino feels that a move to Lazio was the right one for the next step in his career, and that it is like he was destined to play for the Biancocelesti.
Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttuMercatoWeb, the Uruguayan gave his thoughts on his move to the capital club particularly given that he had famously scored a goal that gave Inter Champions League football at the climax of the 2017-18 season.
Vecino spent five seasons as an Inter player, and one of the highlights of his time at the club was surely scoring the goal that capped off a 3-2 comeback win for the Nerazzurri over Lazio in what was essentially a playoff for a spot in the Champions League group stage on the final game of his first season at the club.
The 30-year-old will now seek to atone by helping the Biancocelsti reach their goals, and when asked about the coincidence he said that “I believe that it’s destiny. On other occasions I’ve come close to moving here but then nothing concrete came of it.”
