Manchester United could target Crysencio Summerville, which would reunite Karl Darlow with a former Leeds United teammate. The Guardian reports United may move for the West Ham winger if Marcus Rashford is sold, with any deal around £30m.
Darlow’s switch to Old Trafford was confirmed earlier this week after the 35-year-old left Leeds as a free agent. It is understood Leeds had offered fresh terms, but plans to sign another goalkeeper meant he was not guaranteed the first-choice role.
United aim to move Rashford on after an uneasy spell that included loans to Aston Villa and Barcelona. Any exit looks complicated, given his wages, but a departure would open the door for Summerville to join Michael Carrick’s side.
Relegated West Ham are open to a sale. Summerville posted seven goals and three assists, and their fate was sealed on the final day despite a 3-0 win over already-safe Leeds. He then went to the World Cup with the Netherlands, scoring two and assisting two in four games.
Darlow and Summerville shared one season at Elland Road after the keeper arrived for a six-figure fee in 2023. Darlow backed up Illan Meslier while the Dutchman hit 20 goals and nine assists to win Championship Player of the Year, before a £28m move to West Ham. If the report proves accurate, the Hammers might make only a £2m profit.
