A former West Bromwich Albion player who spent "most of his career" has been arrested in Spain following a significant drugs raid
Players can take a wide range of paths after hanging up their boots, with many opting for fresh careers outside of the game once the time comes to retire.
It's common to see former players undertake a natural transition into coaching, media work or punditry, whereas others move towards a career - or lack thereof - that enables them to spend the rest of their days outside of the limelight.
Some players can even end up in extremely surprising and unorthodox post-retirement roles, such as ex-Birmingham City, Brentford and Coventry man Martin Grainger - who now works as a train driver.
However, it's less common to see players - particularly those to have played at a high level - to descend into the world of criminality after calling it a day with their footballing careers, with many set up for life as a result.
But, in a shocking new update, it has emerged that a former West Bromwich Albion player has been arrested in Spain following a huge drugs bust, with a jail sentence surely now beckoning.
According to reports in Spain, an ex-West Brom player was recently arrested in Spain on drugs charges, with a significant raid promptly being conducted.

The identity of the player in question remains unclear at this moment in time, but, as per Spanish outlet Sur, the individual is a 47-year-old Brit who spent "most of his career" at the Hawthorns.
Reports have revealed that the arrest took place nine days ago on the Costa Del Sol, whereby the man had been discovered carrying a bag of cannabis by police upon leaving the Las Terrazaz Shopping Centre in Riviera del Sol on March 10.
It's said that the police then found further drugs inside the shopping centre, with a statement released on Monday explaining that police intercepted one of the customers following suspicious activity, with the individual claiming to have purchased the cannabis in the premises.
After a search took place, the police found and seized 1.1kg of cannabis, 865g of hashish and 3,469.90 euros and £225.alongside various paraphernalia.
The premises in question reportedly lacked an opening and activity license, while it's not known whether the ex-Baggie has already appeared before a judge or was released on bail ahead of an ongoing investigation.
