Barnsley, Bristol Rovers and MK Dons are all eyeing a late move for sought-after Barnet star Ryan Glover, Football League World understands
A frantic final day of the January transfer window awaits ahead of this evening's 7pm deadline, with clubs throughout the EFL set to scramble for last-minute deals - and Barnsley, Bristol Rovers and MK Dons are all pursuing the same move in a late saga, Football League World can exclusively reveal.
It could shape up to be a hectic day of activity for Barnsley amid ever-intensifying speculation surrounding the futures of star duo Reyes Cleary and Davis Keillor-Dunn, who have both garnered no shortage of Championship interest following impressive individual campaigns at Oakwell this term.
Bristol Rovers, meanwhile, find themselves in need of further additions in order to stave off the threat of dropping out of League Two, having been handed crucial breathing room after claiming a commanding 3-0 victory over relegation rivals Newport County on Saturday afternoon.
MK Dons, in contrast, are positioned at the other end of the League Two standings and will be hoping to embolden their automatic promotion ambitions with further acquisitions after landing the likes of Curtis Nelson, Jay Matete and Ben Wiles in eye-catching deals for Paul Warne's fourth-placed side.
Sources have disclosed to Football League World that the player in question is Barnet's Ryan Glover, who has emerged as a hot property throughout recent weeks and could be on his way out of North London before the window slams shut tonight.
FLW understands that the trio are all lining up late moves for Glover, with Barnsley perhaps holding a significant advantage owing to their superior divisional status and continued interest in the wide-man's services.
Earlier on in January, FLW exclusively revealed that Barnsley were joined by two League One rivals in Peterborough United and Wigan Athletic, alongside Salford City, in plotting a move for the 25-year-old.
Now, however, the Tykes are facing fresh competition from Bristol Rovers and MK Dons in the race for Glover, who has duly earned suitors following an impressive campaign upon Barnet's return to the fourth-tier from the National League.
Capable of operating on either flank, in attacking midfield or even at wing-back, the utility man recorded nine goals and 12 assists across all competitions last term and has caught the eye by adding another four strikes to his name at the time of writing.
Formerly of AFC Bournemouth and Aldershot Town, Glover has started every single League Two fixture under Dean Brennan this term and Barnet will be firmly against the prospect of losing their star man with such little remaining time to source a replacement, although their resolve could be tested as interest continues to mount in the dying embers of the window.
