Barnsley have entered late transfer talks involving a potential reunion with Luton Town forward Jacob Brown, Football League World understands
Barnsley are poised to undergo a busy final day of the mid-season transfer window as we edge ever closer to this evening's 7pm deadline, with a number of incomings and outgoings both very much on the cards - and Football League World has exclusively learned of a familiar face potentially heading back to Oakwell.
Head coach Conor Hourihane is sure to find himself sweating over the much-speculated futures of star pair Reyes Cleary and Davis Keillor-Dunn, who have both been subjected to considerable Championship interest in recent weeks.
Just last week, FLW broke the news of an undisclosed bid for top-scorer Keillor-Dunn from Wrexham, with numerous other second-tier outfits having also been linked to the versatile forward as of late.
With Cleary, however, recent reports have claimed that Barnsley's fresh asking price of £5 million alongside a further £3 million in add-ons has scared off suitors including Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield United after Chris Wilder revealed his side's interest in the talented former West Bromwich Albion winger, who, alongside Keillor-Dunn, has lit up Oakwell in an otherwise-disappointing campaign for the League One outfit.
Midfield captain Luca Connell could represent another exit from South Yorkshire in the coming hours amid Luton Town's reported interest, while FLW understands that Barnsley have retained their previously-revealed admiration of sought-after Barnet star Ryan Glover, who may well be on his way to Hourihane's side if competitions offered up from the likes of Bristol Rovers and MK Dons can be beaten off.
However, another deal could be struck with Luton before 7pm hits following a fresh twist.
Football League World can exclusively reveal that former Barnsley forward Jacob Brown could be on his way back to the club in the coming hours after late interest in a potential reunion.

FLW has learned that Barnsley have entered talks with League One rivals Luton in an effort to complete a move for Brown ahead of this evening's deadline, with Hourihane and co hoping to intensify discussions as they chase the deal.
Earlier on in the window, Hatters boss Jack Wilshere suggested that the play-off hopefuls could be open to sanctioning Brown's exit from Kenilworth Road.
The forward, who joined from Stoke City ahead of Luton's maiden Premier League campaign in 2024, has endured a difficult stay in Bedfordshire by scoring just seven goals from 60 appearances, and appears surplus to requirements following the appointment of Wilshere.
Brown missed the start of the season with a serious knee injury but has struggled to establish himself since returning to full fitness in November, with the versatile 27-year-old forward having made only seven goalless appearances in league action this term - three of which have been starts.

An 8-cap international at senior level with Scotland, Brown may well need to resurrect his career away from Luton and could be tempted by a return to Barnsley, where he came through the ranks and racked up 12 goals and 15 assists throughout two full campaigns in the first-team before Stoke came calling in September 2020.
The Tykes have a dearth of seasoned forward options away from the likes of David McGoldrick and the potentially-departing Keillor-Dunn, meaning a reunion with Brown could make a great deal of sense as Hourihane looks to try and propel his side up the table in the latter stages of the campaign.
