West Bromwich Albion are pushing for more signings after completing the capture of 22-year-old striker Barney Stewart from Falkirk. His arrival, the first of the summer, was confirmed on Wednesday.

The deal is initially worth around £1.3 million and represents a club-record sale for Falkirk, with potential for significant add-ons.

Talks for Chelsea forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan are at an advanced stage, and Albion are also on the verge of signing teenage prospect Carter Pinnington from Liverpool. The club are eager to make early inroads in the first window since Bilkul Group’s 2024 takeover, where the primary focus is not on reducing losses.

Albion have held talks with Karlan Grant over a new deal, while striker Josh Maja has been offered a new contract. Boss James Morrison is also expected to finalise his staff, with negotiations under way with Celtic over bringing Gavin Strachan to The Hawthorns.

The London-born forward only made his professional debut last year after being spotted by Falkirk while playing as an amateur for Heriot Watt University, having moved to Scotland to study sports science. He scored 19 goals in his first full season, including 10 in the Scottish Premiership after a recall from a loan at Dunfermline. Interest followed from several English clubs and Albion won the race for his signature.

“I’m so excited by the challenge of playing in the Championship. I’m very confident that I can score the goals here at Albion, just like I did last year for Dunfermline and Falkirk. I’m a confident person and I’ll always back myself.” He told WBA TV.
