Burton Albion have made a bid for Morecambe striker Cole Stockton, sources have exclusively informed Football League World.

The Brewers sold 13-goal forward Victor Adeboyejo to Bolton Wanderers last week after his release clause was triggered.

22nd-placed Burton are now in search of a replacement as they look to aid their League One survival hopes and have turned their attention to a relegation rival.

Sources have exclusively informed FLW that Burton have tabled a bid for Stockton as they look to add more forward firepower.

The 28-year-old fired the Shrimps to League Two promotion in 2020/21 and then safety last season – scoring 41 goals across those two campaigns – but has only scored three goals this term.

Stockton remained at Morecambe despite summer interest from elsewhere but has now entered the final six months of his contract, meaning the club may have to consider any offers made for him.

That said, Morecambe are 19th in League One, only two points above the relegation zone, so could feel it’s worth their while to keep the forward rather than strengthening a rival.
