With the end of the EFL season approaching, clubs whose divisional status has been confirmed for the 2025-26 campaign can look towards revamping their squad.

There are plenty of non-league gems ready to try and make the step up into professional football, and Kadji is one of those who has already had a taste of it and is looking likely that he will be snapped up by someone in the coming weeks.

Weston-super-Mare midfielder Dylan Kadji wanted by Rotherham United and Shrewsbury Town

FLW has been informed that Bristol City academy graduate Kadji is being eyed up by clubs higher up the English footballing pyramid thanks to his form in the National League South for Weston-super-Mare.

The 21-year-old played four times in all competitions for the Robins after breaking through the youth setup, but was also sent out on multiple loans too, with time taken in at Bath City, Swindon Town, Forest Green Rovers and Aldershot.

Released from Ashton Gate at the end of the 2023-24 season though, Kadji dropped into the sixth tier of English football with Weston-super-Mare, and he has appeared pretty regularly for the Seagulls, whose push for the play-offs has fallen short.

Kadji has scored three goals and notched a further six assists in 41 league outings for his club this season, and that has caught the attention of Rotherham, who will spend next season in League One under new boss Matt Hamshaw, but also Shrewsbury Town, who are looking to rebuild after their relegation to League Two was recently confirmed.

And with 6ft 2in midfielder Kadji's current contract expiring at the end of April after Weston-super-Mare's season finishes this coming weekend, both clubs could look to make an immediate move for his services, giving him a potential pathway back into professional football.

What ex-Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson said about Dylan Kadji

After impressing in pre-season ahead of the 2022-23 campaign, Kadji was handed a first start for Bristol City by then-boss Nigel Pearson, and he took advantage of it by scoring after just seven minutes of a 3-1 EFL Cup win over Wycombe Wanderers.

Pearson himself was impressed by Kadji's first showing, telling the BBC: "He's got really good attributes for the modern game. He's a good mover, he's got decent vision and ability.

"What he won't be used to having come through an academy system is scruffy, physical games [like against Wycombe]. In terms of his overall education it's a really good for him.

"He wasn't phased by it, he looked forward to it and his team-mates looked after him."
