George Hall turned down moves to the Scottish Premiership to leave Birmingham City for Port Vale late in the summer transfer window.

George Hall snubbed interest from Scottish Premiership duo, Hibernian and Aberdeen, to sign for Port Vale from Birmingham City late in the summer transfer window, Football League World has been informed.

Birmingham have nurtured Hall's talent over a number of years and, at one point, he was linked with the likes of Leeds United and Liverpool, who had both embarked on scouting missions to watch the England youth international.

Hall, 21, suffered a horrific run with injuries while at St Andrew’s but is hoping to kick-start his career at Vale Park, having opted to step back into League One rather than move out of the EFL.

Football League World understands that Hall was contacted by a pair of clubs over a move north of the border, but instead opted to take the move to Port Vale, where the now-ex-Birmingham forward has penned a three-year deal.

The move for him to link up with Darren Moore feels quite the coup, too, with both high-flying Hibs and lowly Aberdeen contacting Hall ahead of his move.

Hall went with the blessing of Birmingham boss Chris Davies, who said prior to his departure: “I haven’t had one single cross word with him.

“He’s been exemplary, every single day - a credit to their profession.

“Whichever club goes for George will make a good decision because he looks strong, fit - he’s got good quality.

“He can play at a good level, no doubt.”

Hall played 17 times in League Two last season for Walsall, scoring two goals and registering two assists whilst out on loan.

The move to Vale Park gives him a first taste of League One football. On Saturday, Port Vale take on last season's beaten play-off finalists, Leyton Orient, entering the weekend sitting 23rd in the table, having collected two points and suffered four defeats in six games.

Hall also now has the added benefit of being available for the mouth-watering Carabao Cup tie against Arsenal on September 24th.

He was eligible to play - ironically against Port Vale - when the Valiants beat Birmingham 1-0 last month at St Andrew’s in the second round thanks to Jaheim Headley's goal moments before half-time.

He wasn’t fielded by Davies, leaving him free for selection against Mikel Arteta’s men as Vale eye the scalp of one of Europe's best.

Between now and then, Vale play Orient (September 6th), Exeter City (September 13th) and Mansfield Town (September 20th) as they go in search of their first League One win since promotion.
