Aston Villa face another summer balancing act as Unai Emery prioritises reinforcements in attack after their Europa League triumph.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, despite Champions League qualification the club must tread carefully to comply with a UEFA settlement agreed last year after a financial fair play breach.

Emery wants two wide players to add pace, plus a striker, and he also hopes to recruit a right-sided defender to compete with Matty Cash. The striker search places some doubt over Tammy Abraham’s future.

Any arrivals will need to be offset by departures. Villa are prepared to offload Leon Bailey and Evann Guessand, while Emi Martinez’s future remains uncertain, and the club have yet to receive any formal approach.

Much could hinge on Morgan Rogers. The Halesowen-born midfielder has several suitors, but Villa are reluctant to sell and are expected to seek at least £100m for one of Emery’s key players.

Rogers is not pushing to leave and no movement is anticipated until after the World Cup.

Targets under consideration include Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes and Paris Saint-Germain teenager Ibrahim Mbaye.
