Fagner leaves Corinthians for Cruzeiro: "Head held high"

On the morning of this Wednesday (7th), right-back Fagner officially bid farewell to Corinthians. He leaves the club after 11 years, with one year on loan to Cruzeiro, where he was announced as a permanent addition. On social media, he posted a message to the fans.

“The time has come to say goodbye to this club where I spent a large part of my life. I arrived very young, in the youth team, made my professional debut at 17, left to fulfill the dream of playing in Europe, and returned to play 11 consecutive seasons. I made it to the list of the top 10 players with the most appearances, played 578 games, won 5 titles, and had the opportunity to play in a World Cup, representing our country,” the player began.

“In my mind, I never thought this cycle would end. But some people wanted and made it happen. It's part of it, I went looking for new challenges and I am extremely happy with everything that has happened to me and my family in the past year. And it will continue to be so...,” he added.

Due to limited opportunities in 2024 and the expectation of fewer minutes last year, the management and the athlete agreed to a loan to Cruzeiro. There, he had more opportunities and, with Tite's arrival, he could become a key player in the squad. As a result, an agreement was reached for an amicable termination.

“I can only thank everyone who was with me at Corinthians, all the staff, athletes, directors, technical teams, and the fans who always supported me and showed affection. I experienced everything I could have at this club and always intensely. I never spared any effort and I leave with my head held high, certain that I did my best and learned a lot, both as a man and as a professional,” Fagner concluded.

He was announced by Cruzeiro with a contract for another season, that is, until the end of 2026. Additionally, he will have the option to extend for another year. As mentioned, there is no longer any link between Timão and the athlete.
