A well-known Leeds United supporter, Michael ‘Little Mick’ Hewitt, has gone missing while travelling to the World Cup, prompting an urgent family appeal. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, he was due in Boston to watch England’s second group match earlier this month.

He left Leeds on Saturday 20 June, routing via Barcelona, and contacted relatives in the early hours of Sunday 21 June after landing in Spain. Since then his phone has been off and there have been no social media updates.

His brother, Gary Hewitt, posted an appeal on social media, describing Mick as a familiar face among Leeds fans worldwide. The family say they are very worried for his safety.

They have reported him missing and raised a case with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, reference 02470905. Interpol has been alerted to establish whether he travelled on to the USA or remained in Barcelona. The UK police reference is 20260628/1183.

West Yorkshire Police said they received a missing person report concerning a man from Leeds at 3.09pm on Sunday 28 June. Anyone who has seen or heard from Mick since Sunday 21 June is asked to contact his family or the FCDO.
