FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta had a beaming smile as the return to the Spotify Camp Nou edges closer. The hope is for the team to return on 22 November for the La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao.

Barcelona recently drew 3-3 with Club Brugge in an entertaining Champions League game. The Catalan club were not at their best overall, but going forward Lamine Yamal was back to his very best.

The Spaniard had been struggling with discomfort caused by pubalgia and could not perform at his top level. However, Lamine’s performance against Brugge offered plenty of promise for the weeks ahead.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Laporta took time to praise the teenager’s commitment to the club despite his injury issues. He said:

“His call-up is a recognition, he’s the best, and it’s normal he was selected. I’d like to see him managed carefully. Spain are practically qualified, they only need one point against Georgia. But I don’t want to interfere with the coach’s decisions. I see Lamine with extraordinary quality. He was upset we didn’t win. He carried the team and was angry afterwards. Seeing him at this level is a joy.”

Lamine’s game time has been a topic of discussion for a long time. The teenager needs rest to recover from his discomfort, and the hope is that Luis de la Fuente understands this.

Although Spain need Lamine, with only one point required for qualification they can afford to take it easy. Let us hope his minutes are managed better than they were in September.
