FC Barcelona closely monitoring RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba | OneFootball

FC Barcelona are reportedly keeping a close eye on RB Leipzig’s Castello Lukeba (23), according to The Athletic.

Whilst signing a new centre-forward remains the Catalan club’s top priority, the arrival of defensive reinforcements at Camp Nou cannot be ruled out either. It is in this context that Hansi Flick is said to have set his sights on the Frenchman, whom he admires and whose ability to play both as a centre-back and at left-back is said to have caught his eye.

A product of the Olympique Lyonnais academy, Lukeba quickly made a name for himself after his debut in professional football. Transferred to RB Leipzig for €30m in the summer of 2023, the French international (one cap) immediately established himself as a key member of the German club’s squad.

Starting in 27 of his 29 appearances across all competitions last season, Lukeba played a pivotal role in the Saxons’ qualification for the Champions League, having finished third at the end of the 2025–26 season. Under contract until 2029, he is still valued at around €50m by the specialist website Transfermarkt.
