FC Porto: Diogo Costa sees elite interest cool amid €60m clause | OneFootball

According to O Jogo, the prospects of Diogo Costa leaving FC Porto this summer are shrinking as leading clubs focus elsewhere.

Chelsea were among those linked to Porto’s No 99, yet head coach Xabi Alonso has ruled out signing a goalkeeper. He said he is content with Mike Penders, who impressed at Strasbourg on loan last season, and with Robert Sánchez’s Premier League experience.

Paris Saint-Germain are seeking a keeper and could meet the clause, while Luis Enrique’s style suits Costa’s distribution. Even so, Zion Suzuki’s move from Parma is progressing and, per L'Equipe, he could then be loaned to Juventus because PSG would not guarantee the starting role amid competition from Matvei Safonov and, to a lesser extent, Lucas Chevalier.

In that context, a Costa push by PSG would appear unlikely, since a Chevalier departure would still make a combined outlay near €90m hard to justify, roughly €30m for Suzuki plus Costa’s €60m clause.

From Costa’s side there are no issues. His choice not to commit publicly to staying reflects a wish to avoid what he cannot control, and there have been no approaches for Porto’s captain and No 99.
