FC Twente have officially announced the signing of Sam Lammers on a permanent deal from Rangers. The 27-year-old striker has put pen to paper on a three-year contract De Grolsch Veste, brining an end to a short spell in Scotland. Twente have reportedly spent £3.5m on the former PSV, Eintracht Frankfurt, Empoli and Sampdoria striker.
Sam Lammers spent much of last season on loan at FC Utrecht, where he featured 20 times in the Eredivisie netting 11 goals and providing three assists. Compare that to his time in a Rangers shirt, when he scored just two goals in 31 appearances at Ibrox.
At Twente, Lammers will be playing European football under the management of Joseph Oosting. Last season the club finished third in the Eredivisie behind PSV and Feyenoord, and there’s no reason why they can’t continue making progress and push even further up the table next season. Sam Lammers becomes the club’s fourth summer signing after Sayfallah Ltaief joined from FC Basel, Bas Kuipers signed from Go Ahead Eagles and Alec Van Hoorenbeeck made the move from Mechelen.
