FC Volendam have completed the signing of Garang Kuol on loan from Newcastle United. The 18-year-old Australian international will spend all of the next campaign with the side that finished 14th in the Eredivisie last season.
Kuol joined Newcastle United back in January from the Australian A-League outfit Central Coast Mariners. Immediately after signing, the 2004-born right-winger was loaned out to Hearts in the Scottish Premiership, where he featured eight times, scoring one goal. Now, the talented teenager will be put on display in the Eredivisie.
Garang Kuol has been a top target for Volendam for a while now. Speaking to the club website, technical director Jasper van Leeuwen said ‘Now was the time that we could find a good solution with Newcastle. He is a very talented attacker who can play in multiple positions and add things to our game. Especially his depth and directness to the goal are weapons that we can use well.’
At 18 years old, Garang Kuol is the youngest player to have played in the knockout stages of a World Cup since Pelé in 1958. We could be seeing the youngster in action as soon as this Friday when FC Volendam kick off their Eredivisie campaign with a home clash against Vitesse.
