Felix Bacher handed first Austria call-up after Lyon breakthrough | OneFootball

According to Le Progres, Felix Bacher has been called up for the first time by Austria head coach Ralf Rangnick ahead of the 2026-27 season's opening international break.

Following a two-game week, away to Anderlecht on Wednesday then at home to Rennes on Saturday, Lyon's senior squad will split between those staying in Lyon and those leaving for national duty. Players remaining are likely to be given a few days off at the start of this three-week pause to compensate for the early pre-season.

Last season, between 10 and 15 Lyon players, including youth internationals, typically left on call-ups.

Bacher, 25, has quickly established himself as first-choice alongside Moussa Niakhaté at Olympique Lyonnais after joining from Estoril last summer. Rangnick, formerly of Manchester United and Leipzig, has taken note of his strong start.

He will have four Nations League opportunities to make his debut, against Israel on 24 September, Kosovo on 27 September, away to Ireland on one October, then Kosovo again on four October.
