Félix Bacher signs five-year deal with Lyon after €4.3m Estoril transfer | OneFootball

Lyon have signed Estoril centre-back Félix Bacher on a five-year contract, the club said on Sunday, in a €4.3m deal with up to €800,000 in add-ons and a 12.5% sell-on interest on any future profit.

The 1.90m Austrian, 25, had been in talks for several weeks and was taken out of Estoril’s pre-season, not featuring over the past week. A former Austria U20 international, he made 58 appearances for Estoril since 2024, scoring 4 goals.

It is a big moment for him and his family and he expressed gratitude for joining Lyon. He hopes for memorable moments this season, is eager to play for the club and its supporters, and is ambitious, aiming to lead and to give 100% on the pitch.

Born in Lienz, he developed at SC Schwaz, Akademie Tirol and Wacker Innsbruck, debuting in Austria’s second tier before a January 2020 move to SC Freiburg, where he featured for the reserves. He came to prominence at WSG Tyrol, then joined Estoril two years ago and was one of the standout centre-backs in last season’s Portuguese league, with power and anticipation highlighted.

Lyon now have four senior centre-backs, Moussa Niakhaté, Félix Bacher, Ruben Kluivert and Clinton Mata. Bacher will not be eligible for Tuesday’s Champions League third qualifying round first leg at Sparta Prague, a match for which Niakhaté is suspended.
