Felix Bacher ‘to sign’ five-year Lyon deal after medical | OneFootball

Felix Bacher is set to join Lyon on a five-year contract to June 2031. He underwent a medical on Saturday morning, with the announcement expected this afternoon.

The clubs agreed a €4.1 million fee on Friday evening, plus a percentage of any future resale profit. Foot Mercato first reported the move on 21 July.

Bacher, 25 and 1.90m, can operate on either side of central defence, though primarily on the right. He is viewed as a long-term partner for Moussa Niakhaté on the left.

He joined Estoril Praia in summer 2024 on a deal running to 2028 after developing in Austria. His career also includes a spell at Freiburg in 2020-2021.

Bacher matches the profile sought by Fonseca, strong in duels, dominant in the air and comfortable stepping up when the press demands. He was an undisputed starter across 34 matchdays in back three and back four systems under Ian Cathro, now coach of AS Saint-Étienne.
