Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes produced another outstanding performance as he set a new club record for assists in a single Premier League season during Sunday’s 3–1 victory over Aston Villa.

The Portuguese midfielder registered two assists in the match to take his total to 16 for the 2025/26 campaign, surpassing the previous Manchester United record of 15 set by David Beckham in the 1999/00 season.

Fernandes first matched Beckham’s tally early in the second half when he delivered a precise corner that Casemiro headed home in the 53rd minute. The United captain then set a new record shortly after with a superb through ball that allowed Matheus Cunha to double the lead for Michael Carrick’s side.

The 29-year-old is now edging closer to the overall Premier League record for assists in a single season, which stands at 20 and is jointly held by Thierry Henry (2002/03) and Kevin De Bruyne (2019/20). With eight league matches still remaining, Fernandes needs five more to establish a new benchmark of 21.

Since arriving at Old Trafford from Sporting CP in January 2020, Fernandes has been one of United’s most influential players. He now boasts 105 goals and 100 assists in 319 appearances for the club in all competitions.

The milestone also places Fernandes among an elite group in Manchester United history, becoming just the third player in the Premier League era to reach 100 goals and 100 assists for the club, alongside Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs.

With his creativity continuing to drive United forward, Fernandes could yet finish the season by rewriting the Premier League record books once again.
