We take a look at some of Swansea City's best August business that they'll hope to replicate

With the transfer window set to slam shut later this month, Swansea City are starting to run out of time to strengthen their squad.

Luke Williams has spoken about his desire to add a further four players to his squad before the window shuts at the end of August, and it appears that Swansea's transfer business will certainly go to the wire.

Whilst it's not ideal that Swansea's business is taking so long to complete, the club have shown in the past that they're able to make impressive signings in August when time has been running out, and they'll be looking to replicate some of that business this month.

With that in mind, here are three August transfers Swansea City will want to emulate before deadline day.

Michel Vorm

Following their promotion to the Premier League in 2011, Swansea City signed three new goalkeepers; Jose Moreira, Gerhard Tremmel, and Michel Vorm, and it was the latter who became the club's first choice.

Dutch international Vorm joined the club on 11th August 2011, just four days prior to their opening Premier League game of the season, but he had no problems with adapting to English football and had a very successful three-year stay in south Wales before joining Tottenham in 2014.

Swansea paid a bargain £1.5million to sign the shot-stopper from Utrecht, and he certainly made a big impact, winning Swansea's Player of the Year award for the 2011/12 campaign.

Despite signing Lawrence Vigouroux earlier this summer, Swansea are in need of another goalkeeper following Andy Fisher suffering an injury in pre-season, and Williams has admitted that a shot-stopper is on his shopping list.

Vorm showed 13 years ago that, despite joining late in the window, you can still make a big impact, and Swansea would love to repeat the trick with another bargain find this summer.

Wayne Routledge

Similarly to Vorm, Wayne Routledge joined Swansea City in August 2011 following their promotion to the Premier League.

What followed was ten years of service, which came to an end in 2021, and it's fair to say that the winger found a much-needed permanent home in south Wales after having played for eight clubs by the age of 26 prior to his move to the Swans.

Swansea are desperately in need of wide players this summer, and the club are hoping to bring in at least one, according to BBC Sport, while they'd surely love to find someone of Routledge's ability and longevity this summer.

Routledge wasn't always the flashiest of players, but he made 305 appearances and registered nearly 70 goal involvements, playing a crucial role in some of Swansea's greatest days in their recent history.

Fernando Llorente

Spanish international striker Fernando Llorente signed for Swansea on the 5th August 2016 and his goals almost single-handedly kept the club in the division during their 16/17 Premier League campaign.

The Spaniard joined Swansea from Sevilla and enjoyed a fantastic sole season in south Wales, scoring 15 goals in 35 appearances, all of which came in the Premier League, before joining Spurs in the summer of 2017.

Despite signing Zan Vipotnik, Swansea could potentially do with another striker, with Jerry Yates, Jamal Lowe, and Mykola Kukharevych all departing this summer, leaving just Vipotnik and Liam Cullen as options for Williams.

We all know that quality, proven goalscorers cost a lot of money, but if Swansea were able to sign someone capable of scoring 15 goals this season, it would put them in a seriously good position to kick on and move up the table.

Llorente's signing was a bolt from the blue, and the Jack Army would love an unexpected striker addition in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.
