Fernando Madureira, the former Super Dragões leader, has lodged an appeal with the Tribunal Constitucional against his custodial sentence in Operação Pretoriano. Jornal de Notícias reports that he argues the principle of equality was breached because the punishment was excessive and disproportionate.

In July 2025, the Tribunal de São João Novo in Porto sentenced him to three years and nine months in prison for devising and executing a plan to intimidate and coerce FC Porto members at a club general assembly.

After an appeal, in February this year the Tribunal da Relação do Porto reduced the term to three years and four months.

That decision triggered the release of "Macaco", who had been in pre-trial detention since February 2024, as he had already served half of the imposed sentence.

If the judgment becomes final without changes, Madureira would return to prison to serve the remainder of the term.
