Feyenoord Rotterdam have banned their own supporters from travelling to the next two Eredivisie away matches, the club said in a statement on Wednesday. The move follows recent trouble at SC Cambuur.

The measure will apply to trips to NEC Nijmegen and PEC Zwolle next month.

The decision comes after incidents around the match at Cambuur on Sunday 23 August, the third round of the league. The game was halted for 20 minutes due to rockets and fireworks launched from the away section.

Several home supporters were injured, and one projectile narrowly missed the Feyenoord goalkeeper.

In response to the announcement, some Feyenoord fans voiced displeasure, saying they were being punished for the actions of a few.
