The French Football Federation’s refereeing department said an Olympique Lyonnais goal against Le Havre was rightly ruled out and set out its reasoning.

The incident came in the 65th minute of the Ligue 1 fixture on matchday two, with VAR prompting the annulment.

The referee overturned the on-field award after the review, with the federation outlining the sequence that led to the decision.

Lyon had also twice thought they had drawn level against Fenerbahçe, only for both efforts to be disallowed.

The latest explanation addressed the Le Havre incident following the video intervention.
