Filipe Luís hosts Hernanes during coaching placement at Monaco | OneFootball

Filipe Luís has welcomed former São Paulo idol Hernanes, known as the Profeta, to Monaco as the ex-midfielder continues his coaching education.

The ex-Brazil international said in a social media post that it was a pleasure to reconnect after years, adding his gratitude for the reception and experience provided by Filipe Luís and Thiago Scuro, and thanking AS Monaco for opening their doors during his development.

The pair featured together in two matches for Brazil. They also faced each other four times, once when Filipe Luís was at Atlético Madrid and Hernanes at Lazio, then three meetings between Flamengo and São Paulo from 2019 to 2021. Filipe Luís won two, lost one and drew one.

The Monaco head coach is unbeaten at the start of his tenure, with six wins and one draw and 15 goals scored, including victory over PSG. Monaco lead Ligue 1 with 13 points, two clear of Lyon.

Hernanes began placements at São Paulo’s SuperCT earlier this year. He already holds a UEFA Pro A licence and has shadowed training, fitness work, performance analysis and squad management to understand the day-to-day of a professional staff. He chose to learn from Filipe Luís, whose first senior job brought Copa do Brasil, the Libertadores and the Brasileirão at Flamengo, plus a Club World Cup final against PSG.
