Filipe Luís ‘to sign’ for Monaco as Leverkusen talks cool | OneFootball

Filipe Luís is close to signing for Monaco after talks with Bayer Leverkusen cooled, according to Coluna Do Fla.

The former Flamengo coach has chosen the Monegasque club and is poised to sign for next season.

Monaco are close to announcing the dismissal of Belgian Sébastien Pocognoli after failing to qualify for the Champions League. The 38-year-old arrived in August last year and recorded 16 wins in 38 matches.

Earlier in the day, Filipe Luís had been linked with Bayer Leverkusen. However, the Bundesliga club are in advanced talks with Portuguese coach Marco Silva, who left Fulham at the end of the season, and discussions continue to finalise the deal.

Benfica and Chelsea also monitored his situation, placing him on a list, but there were no negotiations to conclude an agreement.
