Monaco ‘to appoint’ Filipe Luis as head coach after agreement in principle | OneFootball

Monaco have reached an agreement in principle with Filipe Luis to become their next head coach, Fabrizio Romano reports.

The Brazilian has been without a post since departing Flamengo in March. He is expected to replace Sébastien Pocognoli after the club missed the Champions League, with Pocognoli’s exit revealed on Wednesday.

A former left-back with Atlético Madrid and Chelsea, the ex-Brazil international won 44 caps and scored two goals. Having been linked with several European clubs, he would start his European managerial career in Monaco.

During his spell at Flamengo, Filipe Luis won five trophies, including the 2025 Copa Libertadores. His side then lost the Intercontinental Cup final to PSG on penalties in December, 1-1, 2-1 on penalties.

The churn of coaches in Ligue 1 continues, and Monaco have moved quickly to line up a successor.
