TSV 1860 München have been denied a 3. Liga licence by the DFB for 2026-27, meaning the club will play in Regionalliga Bayern next season. A budget shortfall of about €2.7 million underpins the setback.
Bild claims the club must pay around €1 million to obtain their Regionalliga licence, and that failure to do so could threaten insolvency.
The decision follows a failure to provide proof of liquidity by the deadline and to meet a financing commitment from shareholder Hasan Ismaik and his associated companies.
Club management is working with insolvency law specialists and consultants to maintain orderly operations, safeguard rights and interests, and develop a viable long-term plan.
Managing director Manfred Paula said he regretted HAM International not honouring its financing commitment, had believed a solution could be found, and that focus now turns to assembling a competitive squad for the fourth tier.
