Sunderland have received a major boost as 18-year-old striker Finn Geragusian signed his first professional contract, choosing to stay despite transfer interest.
According to Sunderland Echo, he registered 19 goal contributions in 2024/25. He then scored 13 in the academy last season, frequently stepping up to the U21s.
His 2025/26 campaign ended early due to injury. Already capped by Armenia, he attracted significant interest, with Rangers among the clubs tracking his situation.
Academy boss John Hewitson hailed his progress and said the club were delighted he will continue his development on Wearside. Geragusian thanked staff at the Academy of Light and his family, saying he is proud and hopes for more positive experiences this season.
He has trained regularly with the senior squad through 2026 and is likely to see opportunities in pre-season. In April, head coach Régis Le Bris called young internationals a positive sign after a lengthy stint in the third tier, stressing resources demand hard work and the right environment. He felt it was still a bit early for Geragusian to feature in the Premier League, noting competition is high and the forward will have to wait for chances.
