Finn Jeltsch ‘set for’ first Germany call-up as Deniz Undav ‘left out’ | OneFootball

Details of Jürgen Klopp’s first Germany squad are emerging ahead of Thursday’s announcement. Sport Bild reports Marc-André ter Stegen will be restored as No 1 and that Stuttgart’s Finn Jeltsch is in line for a first call-up, while Sky Germany says Deniz Undav has been told he will miss out.

Sport Bild adds that, behind the Ajax keeper, Bayern’s Jonas Urbig and Augsburg’s Finn Dahmen are expected to be called, with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Noah Atubolu also involved. Alexander Nübel is under consideration and Oliver Baumann is not expected to be selected.

Stuttgart are set to supply a sizeable contingent, Sport Bild says. Jeltsch, 20, has broken into the first team after starring in Germany’s U17 triumphs. Maximilian Mittelstädt, Josha Vagnoman and Chris Führich are also tipped to return.

One tactical tweak is also being floated. Sport Bild reports Joshua Kimmich will stay as captain, with Klopp planning to move the Bayern Munich veteran back into central midfield. That leaves right-back open.

Freiburg defender Philipp Treu said he had a FaceTime call with Klopp about ideas and plans, telling Sky Germany he had been contacted directly. He did not confirm a nomination.

RB Leipzig’s Assan Ouédraogo is out with another shoulder injury that needs surgery. He scored minutes into his senior Germany debut last November.

Klopp will unveil his squad in Frankfurt on Thursday morning, with Nations League games against the Netherlands, Greece and Serbia from 24 September.
