Fiorentina are making key progress in their move to sign Sassuolo midfielder Maxime Lopez.
La Viola see Lopez as a replacement for Sofyan Amrabat, who wants to join Manchester United and talks between the two clubs continue to take place in an attempt to reach an agreement for what could be an initial loan deal with an option to buy next summer.
Alfredo Pedulla has now reported that Fiorentina are close to sealing a move for the French midfielder, with contacts taking place between La Viola and Sassuolo constantly. A move for the midfielder is essentially now sealed, it is stated, and it will now depend on whether United sign Amrabat or not and Lopez is now a replacement for the Moroccan.
The same has been echoed elsewhere, with the Italian transfer window expected to close before the one in England does. Fiorentina will have to sign Lopez before the Italian deadline passes but Amrabat’s sale can through even after the window in Italy closes.
