Hansi Flick’s Barcelona have endured a relatively solid start to the season, and with a few months now past us, the time is right to evaluate the team’s performances on both a collective and an individual level.
Barring the defeat to PSG in the UEFA Champions League, Barcelona have been largely solid across competitions. Indeed, they got off to a mixed start in La Liga with some unconvincing displays, but a lot has improved over the past month.
The team’s success, however, has included massive contributions from some unexpected names whose market value has correspondingly increased. Concurrently, there are some major losers as well.
The main players whose prominence has improved under Flick, owing to improvements in their performances, are Fermin Lopez, Eric Garcia and Ferran Torres, all of whom have taken up starting roles compared to the bench roles they saw last season.
Lopez, who has come off as a superior option to Dani Olmo, has seen his market value increase from €50 million to €60 million.
Meanwhile, Ferran, who now starts ahead of Robert Lewandowsk,i sees his value go from €40 million to €50 million.

Eric Garcia, meanwhile, has his value jump from €18 million to €25 million, marking close to a 33% rise.
Notably, even Roony Bardghji’s value has improved and now stands at €10 million, rising from €7.5 million. Marc Bernal, recently back from injury, also sees his market value rise from €5 million to €10 million.
The losers, however, are Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Gavi, Marcus Rashford and Robert Lewandowski.
The former duo have mainly seen their values drop owing to injuries and have seen a fall in value by €4 million and €20 million respectively.
Rashford’s drop in value has more to do with his already inflated value of €50 million which has now come to €40 million despite his decent form. The Polish striker, meanwhile, has dropped in value from €12 million to €10 million.
