Although it was not really a crucial match, the defeat FC Barcelona faced against Paris Saint-Germain must have pinched the Catalan team quite a lot, especially as they put up a hearty fight against arguably the best team in Europe at the moment, and came close to salvaging a draw.

A win in this match would have shown just how far the Catalans have come in the last few years as they go head-to-head with the top European teams. However, nothing is really lost even with this defeat.

In fact, the intention at Barcelona is to continue fighting for the UCL title. This intention was publicized by Hansi Flick himself, as he attended the Oktoberfest event in Barcelona.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the German tactician was one of the most notable personalities at this event, which he attended with his assistant Marcus Sorg.

At the event, the Blaugrana coach clearly stated that: “I promise that we will fight for the Champions League.”

The German coach also recalled how special it was to win the big titles last season:

“Last season was the best of my life. It’s not easy, honestly. Last season, when we were on the bus through Barcelona (referring to the parade for the League and Cup titles), it was amazing. Hopefully, this year it happens again, with the right trophies, but it’s not easy.”

Talking about the UCL, Flick ensured that his team will do its best to get the trophy:

“We will give our best, but it’s not easy. If it happens, I’ll be very happy.”

He went on to highlight how good it was to win the UCL during his time with Bayern Munich:

“My most special day with Bayern Munich was when we won the Champions League; it was spectacular. In Barcelona, everyone wants that, and we will fight for it to happen. It won’t be easy, but I promise we will fight.”

The German coach also revealed the routine followed by the team on a UCL matchday:

“On a Champions League day, the routine is: first, a meeting on set plays, and then lunch. Afterwards, the players go to sleep, just like the coaches. Before leaving the hotel, we review the game plan, and then we go. Normally, we like to win, but against PSG it wasn’t possible.”

Barcelona got quite close to making its way to the UCL final last season, and hopefully, the Blaugranes will finally be able to win the big trophy this year, after having waited for more than ten years since their last win.
