CD Castellón are in their least productive spell of the season yet remain in the play-off places. El Periódico Mediterráneo highlights five reasons backing Suero to start at Albacete.

Their last win was on matchday 26, 2-0 against Deportivo at SkyFi Castalia. It put them top alone for the first time in 33 years.

Since then they have gone five without a win, drawing twice and taking only two of 15 points.

They sit sixth on 50 points, level with Burgos in seventh. The cushion has gone, but they still control their fate.

Douglas Aurélio, Brian Cipenga, Awer Mabil and Álex Calatrava are out, opening the door for Suero at Carlos Belmonte.

As an impact substitute he is proven. In only six starts across 25 games and under 1,000 minutes, he has five goals and five assists, with four of each from the bench.

Castellón won his two most recent starts, 0-4 at Valladolid, where he supplied an assist in 64 minutes, and 2-0 against Deportivo, when he played an hour.

With Cala, Cipenga and Mabil missing, and Beñat Gerenabarrea and Diego Barri off their levels while Raúl Sánchez and Adam Jakobsen seek rhythm, Suero has shown he can lead.

His left-foot curl is a trademark. On Monday he bent in a measured cross for Ousmane Camara against Cultural Leonesa, mirroring the Málaga equaliser, with Cipenga at Riazor and Barri at Valladolid also profiting.

He is above the team average for goals, assists, shots, passes, interceptions and tackles.
