Flamengo have signed defender Layza Cavalcanti for the 2026 campaign as the women’s team reshape their squad.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the 23-year-old arrives from Cruzeiro and will be involved across the Copa Rio, Campeonato Brasileiro, Copa do Brasil and Campeonato Carioca.

Born in São Paulo, she came through Vila Guarani-SP and has also featured for Santos and Atlético-MG as well as Cruzeiro.

The new signing said wearing Flamengo colours fulfils a dream and brings pride and responsibility, adding that she hopes for a blessed year of hard work, improvement and collective success.

Flamengo’s women began 2025 by winning the Copa Rio, finishing top of the competition, then exited the Supercopa do Brasil in the semi-finals after a 1-0 defeat to São Paulo.

They placed fifth in the initial phase of the Campeonato Brasileiro before a quarter-final elimination to Palmeiras, later falling in the Copa do Brasil last 16 to São Paulo and closing the year by lifting the Carioca after beating Fluminense in the final.
