Flamengo face Friday deadline to register Libertadores signings | OneFootball

Flamengo are racing to beat a Libertadores registration deadline for the quarter-finals, with the cut-off falling next Friday, the fourth. Fail to add in time and they will face Independiente del Valle (EQU) with the current squad, and could be without Gonzalo Plata.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the Brazilian transfer window remains open until 11 September, but Libertadores registration for new players shuts next week. That leaves the Rubro-Negro little time to act.

The club moved quickly when the window opened on 20 July, pursuing Thiago Almada before he chose River Plate (ARG). A bid for Luiz Henrique also faltered, with Zenit (RUS) unwilling to sanction an exit and the winger staying in Russia.

After those setbacks, Flamengo trusted the existing group for the last 16 against Cruzeiro, and Leonardo Jardim’s side advanced 3-2 on aggregate.

Now there is the imminent prospect of Plata joining Dynamo Moscow (RUS), with talks cited at €10 million to €12 million, roughly R$ 60 million to R$ 72 million at current rates. Negotiations advanced on Thursday 27, with clubs discussing payment structure, and Flamengo preferring an upfront fee.

With Plata considered a starter under Jardim, Flamengo see a need to replace him before the list is finalised. The clock is not on their side.
