Flamengo supporters voiced anger at the Maracanã despite an 8-0 dismantling of Madureira, a result that booked a Campeonato Carioca final against rivals Fluminense.

According to Globo.com, chants of 'time sem vergonha' rang out before kick-off and again at full time. A banner reading 'viemos pelo manto, não por vocês' was displayed throughout in the North Stand.

Asked about the protests, Alex Sandro said the squad, working with Filipe Luís and his staff, are concentrating on improving on the pitch. He noted the group is experienced, that fan reaction is beyond their control, and that while Flamengo's support is hugely important, the focus must remain on their work.

Players, Filipe Luís and club directors have faced criticism after finishing runners-up in the Supercopa do Brasil and the Recopa Sudamericana. On Saturday there was a peaceful demonstration at Ninho do Urubu as the team returned to training, days after the title lost to Lanús of Argentina.

Flamengo return on Sunday, time to be confirmed, for the Carioca final against Fluminense at the Maracanã. It will be the sixth decisive Fla-Flu in the last seven years.
