Flamengo are in the market to replace Plata after selling the Ecuadorian forward to Dynamo Moscow for €10m upfront. The sale strengthens spending power ahead of key registration deadlines.

According to Globo.com, the board aim to recruit a scout-identified, lower-profile attacker rather than revive a move for Luiz Henrique this window. The combined €10m plus about €25m already budgeted matches Zenit’s asking price for Luiz Henrique, but a bid now is considered unlikely, with the window in Brazil closing on 11 September.

The Libertadores quarter-final registration deadline is next Friday, 4 September. Flamengo face Independiente del Valle, Ecuador’s champions, who arrive on a 16-match winning run.

Since early 2024 the hierarchy have leaned on scouting, bringing in Juninho from Qarabag and goalkeeper Andrew from Gil Vicente. Juninho failed to establish himself and joined Pumas, while Andrew backs up Rossi.

In 2025, Flamengo pulled out of a deal for Irish forward Mikey Johnston of West Bromwich after a negative fan reaction, despite travel and medicals being arranged.
