Gonzalo Plata has arrived in Russia, greeted at the airport by Dynamo Moscow with traditional food and dress as he begins life at his new club.

The transfer from Flamengo was finalised on Friday. Plata visited Ninho do Urubu to say farewell, then travelled with Botafogo forward Matheus Martins, who has also been sold to the Russian side. According to Globo.com, the deal is worth around 10 million euros, with a further 2 million in bonuses, approximately R$ 60.1 million and R$ 12 million at current rates.

The pair will link up with Bitello, formerly of Grêmio, Arthur Gomes, formerly of Cruzeiro, and Rubens, formerly of Atlético-MG.

Plata’s exit was not in the plans of Flamengo head coach Leonardo Jardim. The player’s representatives had pushed privately for improved terms after his World Cup campaign with Ecuador, or a transfer.

Plata joined Flamengo in the second half of 2024 from Al-Sadd in Qatar for 9.1 million dollars, around R$ 51.9 million. Over two years he won six trophies with the Rio club, lifting the Copa do Brasil 2024, Libertadores 2025, Brasileiro 2025, Supercopa 2025 and the Carioca in 2025 and 2026.
