Flamengo have been named among the five finalists for France Football’s 2026 Ballon d’Or club of the year, alongside Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Bodo/Glimt and Paris Saint-Germain. They will now vie for the top prize.
The club said in a statement that the nomination recognises a journey combining on-pitch results, institutional development and a growing international footprint, and that being shortlisted reflects work done across the organisation.
The award covers the period from 1 August 2025 to 31 July 2026. In that time, Flamengo won the 2025 Copa Libertadores and the 2025 Campeonato Brasileiro, shaping one of the most significant seasons in their recent history.
The nomination comes amid continued professionalisation, improved management, expanded business fronts and a stronger brand, together with deeper engagement with millions of supporters in Brazil and worldwide. It is framed as a source of pride and a spur to keep raising standards across the club.
The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on 26 October in London. Flamengo academy graduate Vini Jr, now at Real Madrid, is also in contention, having finished second in 2024 behind Rodri.
