Flamengo will face Independiente del Valle in the Libertadores quarter-finals, while a legal row and a reunion off the pitch also marked the day as the team prepare for the next Brasileirão round. Mundo da Bola reports that club president Bap has sued Vasco counterpart Pedrinho, seeking compensation for moral damages, civil liability and civil law claims.
Del Valle booked their place by beating Tolima 3-1 in Quito on Tuesday 25 in the second leg of the last 16, after a 1-0 win in Colombia in the first leg. The opener on the night came from Romero, who pounced after a rebound from the Tolima defence.
The legal action follows recent attacks against Bap, and stems from words directed at Flamengo’s chief by the Vasco president.
Away from the pitch, Marcos Braz and Bruno Henrique had lunch at a shopping centre in Barra da Tijuca. A photo showed the player’s agent, Denis Ricardo, was also present at the Tuesday 25 meeting.
Although Braz is running for federal deputy in Rio de Janeiro, the meeting was described as friends catching up after working together. He served as a club vice-president when Flamengo signed BH 27.
