Goalkeeper Aldair Quintana then made a costly mistake, allowing Arrascaeta to level. Flamengo advanced and Estudiantes now await in the last four.

Flamengo have reached the final in each of their last four semi-final appearances, in 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2025. Their most recent exit at this stage came in 1984, when they lost to Grêmio in a tie-break to decide group two. They had also fallen at this stage in 1982, a year after their first continental crown under Zico.

This run lifts them above Internacional on seven among Brazilian clubs. Palmeiras lead the ranking on 13, a mark they reached after eliminating LDU last Wednesday.
