Flamengo have rejected Santos’ attempt to bring forward their Brasileirão round 29 meeting, so the fixture remains unchanged.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the Rio club cited the international window, with call-ups only due back from six October, leaving too little time to reintegrate players if the date moved.

Santos also explored playing on seven October in São Paulo, but that was declined because Palmeiras v Bahia is set for Nubank Parque that day.

Flamengo will be without Arrascaeta after the playmaker fractured his left wrist in Uruguay’s game against South Korea during the window, with surgery planned for Thursday. Evertton Araújo is still sidelined with a serious muscle injury.

Santos have used the pause to recover players and are aiming to clear the medical room. Club idol Neymar is in physical transition and is expected to return for the Flamengo clash. Philippe Coutinho could also make his debut.

Before the pause, Flamengo led on 60 points, three ahead of Palmeiras, with Santos eighth on 38. The match is scheduled for eight October at 19:30 Brasília time at Vila Belmiro.
