Flamengo trained at 10:00 on Friday at Ninho do Urubu as they prepare to visit Santos on Thursday in round 29. According to Coluna Do Fla, Leonardo Jardim led the session during the international break.

Arrascaeta fractured his left wrist on Monday during Uruguay’s 4-1 win over South Korea, then had surgery on Thursday. The operation was successful and he is projected to return in six to eight weeks, ruling him out of both Libertadores semi-final legs against Estudiantes.

Training continues at 10:00 on Saturday, then Sunday is a rest day.

Pedro and Samuel Lino are with Brazil, while Varela and Anthony Valencia are on international duty. Football director José Boto said Varela and Valencia are, in principle, unlikely to face Santos, while Pedro and Samuel Lino should arrive in time, not at peak condition but able to help.

Carrascal and Saúl are seen as the leading options to replace Arrascaeta. Gonzalo Plata has returned to full training after a thigh issue. Ayrton Lucas is back with the group after a hamstring injury, and Evertton Araújo remains out with a grade 3 adductor problem.

Flamengo visit Santos at Vila Belmiro on Thursday at 19:30 Brasília time. They have not played since 20 September, a 2-1 win over Red Bull Bragantino, creating an 18-day gap before the trip.

Jardim’s side lead the Brasileirão on 60 points and are unbeaten in seven. Santos are eighth on 38. After Santos, Flamengo host Fluminense on 11, travel to Estudiantes on 15, visit Bahia on 18, then play the semi-final return on 22.
